GundarooGundaroo is ten minutes off the Federal Highway from Sydney and a leisurely 25 minutes from Canberra. This historic village lies near the Yass River and is typical of a 19th century village, with the main street well preserved in its original character. Drop by to meet a local and experience a taste of a lifestyle few of us can only dream of.
Capital Wines Epicurean Centre
A trip to Gundaroo is all the more enticing now that Jennie and Mark Mooney have transformed the old stables at the Royal Hotel into a modern and welcoming Epicurean Centre.
The concept is to match delicious morsels of the best regional produce with the award winning drops from the Kyeema Vineyard and winery – and you won’t be disappointed.
Mark and Jennie together with, Andrew and Marion McEwin have established Capital Wines as one of the region’s most critically acclaimed wineries. The wine hails from the Kyeema Vineyard and winery, located near Murrumbateman on an elevated granite hill with breathtaking views through to the Brindabellas. The region’s cool climate and long ripening season make it ideal for producing exceptional fruit with intense flavours.
This dynamo couple don’t sit still for long. They somehow run the cellar door and Epicurean Centre, work at the vineyard and winery and Jennie moonlights as an international hostie, she’s a queen of social media spreading the Capital Wines story far and wide – add to the mix two young children, a huge rabbit, 40 chooks, two parrots and a passion for skiing every weekend in winter and this is one busy family!
